Resolutions update

I have been pretty good so far with a few of my resolutions but not so great at others.

I have tried to not do too much during the week. Mia has 2 organised activities every week at the moment, gymnastics and ballet and 2 that we go to as much as possible but I try not to put too much pressure on myself to take her if I'm feeling tired or just need a morning off!

We have also been pretty good with the saving pennies. Although we haven't saved much we have saved something even if it is a tiny amount! Haha!

My be healthier goal is a work in progress. I joined the gym yesterday and will start on Monday and I'm going to do the Special K diet for 2 weeks because a) I love Special K anyway and b) although I know it's not a long term diet it will hopefully give me that kick start I need to motivate myself to carry this on long term.

So far the only resolution which I haven't really progressed with is to spend more time as a couple. Hopefully we can arrange dinner out or something next month.

15 things kids born in the 80's will remember!

1. Gel pens, first it started with standard colours and then it evolved into glitter pens and smelly gel pens! It was imperative to have them all to be cool!

2. Tamagotchi - everyone had one, schools banned them and we loved them!

3. Yoyo - tricks like cats cradle, around the world and walk the dog, if you could do those you were super cool!

4. Furby - 'I'm hungry' so annoying haha!

5. 'Who loves orange soda'

6. Pokemon 'gotta catch 'em all!'

7. 'Under the apple tree, my boyfriend said to me, kiss me, hug me, tell me that you love me, one, two three' this endless song in which you would eventually end up in the splits!

8. You used to sit down as a family at 6pm to watch the Simpsons on sky one. There was no such thing as catch up tv and if you wanted to record something you had to use a VCR!

9. Scrunchies were so cool!

10. Schott jackets and bomber/puffer jackets were the way forward!

11. Bootleg shoes, pedal pushers, strap tops, big hoop earrings, Kickers, caps (especially ones with NYC on) adidas tracksuit bottoms, Baby G watches!

12. Reebok classics were the trainers to
own and if you turned up to school in hi-tec you were automatically ridiculed!

13. Sports days were actually competitive! There was a winner and there was a loser! There was none of this 'everyone gets a medal for taking part!'

14. PSone was the most amazing gaming machine you had ever owned! Tomb raider, FIFA, Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot!

15. Mobile phones did nothing bar text and call and your first one was massive! Like a brick! Then came the Nokia 3310 which everyone cool had to own and swap the cover constantly, the more covers you owned the cooler you were!

Mia's 2 year update

So I'm a little late in posting this but better late than never right?!

Mia turned 2 at the end of November and she has changed so much this last year!

She is talking more and running, jumping, singing and expressing herself.

She can say a lot of words now and is starting to put words together eg 'I don't like it' she knows what she wants and isn't afraid to let you know!

She can jump, run, follow simple instructions, use an iPad and iPhone and is starting to play independently.

She loves frozen and singing along to the songs. She loves pushing her baby doll in her pram and playing with her dolls house. She also loves play food and having pretend picnics.

Next week she is having her 2 year review and so I will know her weight and will do a quick update with that. I am now planning on doing updates on Mia every 6 months so the next one will be in May!

For now I leave you with some photos of Mia on and around her 2nd birthday!

What Mia got for Christmas 2014

These are just a few of the gifts Mia received this Christmas. She got well and truly spoilt and to include everything she got on this post would not only take me forever to photograph everything but I imagine you would get rather bored haha!

Peppa Pig weeble car

Little Tykes kitchen

Mrs potato head

Olaf soft toy

Brambledale farm

Peppa Pig weebles train

Micro scooter

Magnectic fishing game

Books

Mia also got the frozen anna toddler doll, lots of play food including a Velcro pizza you can pretend to cut into pieces, frozen DVD, baby born clothes and nappies for her doll, furniture for her dolls house, Peppa pig doctors kit, lots of clothes including cardigan, pjs, tops, slippers and dresses. I'm probably forgetting some stuff, she is a very lucky girl! Since she now won't get any big toys etc until the end of November we wanted to ensure we got her things she could grow into otherwise by the middle of the year she is getting bored of the toys as they are too young for her by then. So we got her the scooter and kitchen and our family and friends all went for toys that will be played with for years like a farm and dolls.

At the moment Mia loves the play food the most alongside her kitchen and farm! She isn't so into her scooter but I'm hoping when the weather gets nicer and her friends are at the park on theirs she will become more interested (funny thing is she loved the scooter in the shop and wouldn't get off it and now we got her one she is disinterested!)

What did you get for Christmas? What was your favourite present/s?

Happy New Year!

So it's the start of a new year and time to make a list of New Years resolutions that are sometimes kept and sometimes not...(most of the time only followed for a few weeks or months but I shall try my best to keep mine for the whole year!)

1. Be healthier

I'm pretty sure that this is probably the most common resolution every year for many people! I'm getting married this year so my main goal is to eat healthier, get active and lose some weight! I am planning on trying the 5:2 diet which involves 2 days of only eating 500 calories and the other 5 of eating the usual 2000 calories. Alongside this I want to ensure I eat 3 balanced meals a day (sometimes I snack too much and I would like to cut down snacking!)

2. Save some pennies

This year I would like to try and save some pennies (I say pennies because Adam and I are not very practised in saving so even if we only saved £5 a month it's a start!) this also links in with another resolution I have made which is to stop buying Mia clothes! She has so many already and she really doesn't need anymore!

3. Do not overdo it during the weekdays.

As I am working in the afternoons I want to try to keep morning activities with Mia to just a few mornings a week. Before the summer 2014 Mia was doing an activity every morning which I loved! However it was just too exhausting! With Mia still waking at night and therefore living off broken sleep and not getting home until 7:30pm each night doing an activity every morning is just too much! So we are limiting our structured activities to Wednesday and Thursday each week (gymnastics and ballet) we will then do an activity on Tuesdays and Fridays if we are up for it (art and soft play) Mondays will be our day off and if we need to we will take Tuesday or Friday off.

4. Try to spend more time as a couple.

Since having Mia we haven't spent much time away from being parents. We have been to the cinema once in 2 years for example! This year I would like to try to do more together. Even if that means having someone watch Mia for a few hours during the day while we take a shopping trip or go to a theatre matinee in London.

These are my New Years resolutions. I have tried to limit then to only 4 otherwise I think I would be unsuccessful at sticking to them if I had too many!

What are your New Years resolutions?

Makeup Christmas gifts

This year I didn't ask for much makeup apart from a new mascara. My makeup collection has grown significantly over the last 2 years and I'm beginning to really understand what suits my complexion , how to apply makeup correctly and what brands/styles I like using. I enjoy many products from Dior, Clinique and Urban Decay. I also like YSL, Rimmel, NYX and some bits from MUA (which are just amazing and can't be beaten for value for money!)

This Christmas I received a special gift box, which didn't just contain my favourite Dior mascara but also a mini eye palette too which lovely neutral shades.

It's a perfect handbag sized palette and contains all the shades I like to wear. It doesn't come with a brush but I have my own brushes anyway. The colours are really pigmented and are all Matt shades so perfect for everyday.

The gift box also contains my favourite mascara. The Dior iconic over curl. I have always loved the Dior iconic mascara range. I got it in black and the wand is curled to help curl your eyelashes which in turn makes your eyes look bigger!

Here is the wand.

Apologies for the out of focus shot, my iPhone was not cooperating and my laziness meant I didn't charge my DSLR!

It all comes packaged in a lovely gift box.

What I liked was that the mascara was £24.50 alone but the gift set was also £24.50. So you get the mini eye oalette for free basically. The mascara in the gift set was full size too.
